Dante Tex Gill was a man of complexity, or rather his life was riddled with it.
Though growing up in the 40's outside of Pittsburgh; it was in the 70's his rise into the world of underground sex worker rings gained traction for his name. A skilled blacksmith and horse rider, he had an almost mythical status for all who knew him personally or through the local grape vine. He was also openly trans for half his life.
The Gill Project is a ongoing personal research venture on who Dante Tex Gill was and what can be learned from his life-good, bad, and the socially questionable.
The final goal is to publish a graphic novel that include biographical and autobiographical works asking questions about the experiences of being trans in an age of corruption, eco-political turmoil and damning social expectations.
